As a medium for writing or as a packaging material, paper has become one of life's essentials. Today's pulp and paper industry uses many Solvay chemicals, like caustic soda and hydrogen peroxide for preparing, bleaching and processing the various types of wood pulp, i.e. chemical pulp (either ECF (Elementary Chlorine Free) or TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) bleaching), mechanical pulp and recycled pulp.
Solvay also produces other additives for paper pulps ( sodium bicarbonate, …) as well as products used in the production of paper (PROXITANE® peracetic acid, precipitated calcium carbonate, etc...).
