Looking for Partners, notably Chemical Distributors
In order to fulfil this mission in an optimal way, Solvay is aiming for excellency in its own performance and is looking for the best partners, in those areas which do not come within the scope of its core activities. Solvay considers chemical distributors as added value partners, for supplying specific market segments that Solvay itself is not in a position to serve as economically and efficiently.
In that spirit, Solvay gives a full support to the activities and initiatives of the FECC (Fédération Européenne du Commerce Chimique - European Chemical Distributors Association). Solvay has been one of the first chemical manufacturers to join this Association as Associated Member.
Moreover, in the field of environmental protection, Solvay’s strategy is 'to continuously improve its health, safety and environmental performance worldwide'. For Solvay, Progress goes hand-in-hand with Responsibility.
In that spirit, Solvay has committed itself to the Responsible Care® Programme, the chemical industry’s voluntary commitment to constant improvements in performance with regards to health, safety and environmental protection.
Solvay also welcomes the efforts of chemical distributors for implementing the Responsible Care principles and notably requires from its partnering distributors the general use of ESAD (European Single Assessment Document), developed under the auspices of FECC and CEFIC.

Relationship - Partnering with Distributors
Solvay’s Chemicals Sector has decided to cooperate with selected chemical distributors, which meet various objective criteria, including a real commitment to the principles of 'Responsible Distribution' including the ESAD II Assessments.
Solvay intends to pursue long term business relations with these selected distributors, in spirit of a close cooperation.
Within Solvay’s Chemicals Sector, a specific entity called 'Marketing Unit Distributors, under the European Commercial Management, is in charge of handling relations with distributors and developing parnertship with them, in behalf of the Strategic Business Units involved.
