 Late 2008, Solvay decided to step out of the ANSAC (American Natural Soda Ash Corporation), who was in charge of the commercialisation and the logistics of American Soda Ash outside the Nafta region, in order to optimize its commercial and logistics network. Solvay is so becoming a global Soda Ash producer with production plants in the US, in Europe and Africa and able to supply its customers in more then 90 countries.
During 2 years teams all over the world have prepared this move out as well by establishing new relations with customers as by building the necessary supply chains to export soda ash from the US. This includes the builidng of a new transloading facility in Galveston, Texas together with an external partner, the extension of the rail tracks in Green River to handle full unit trains and an upgrade of the warehouse network worldwide.
 This week the first vessel has been successfully loaded with almost 10.000 tonnes of Soda Ash from Green River and is now sailing to South Africa.
