GBU Special Chemicals - Bringing together
Yet another step forward to the New Solvay: the GBU Special Chemicals
actively started to organize its activities in the new structure shaped by the Horizon project. The new entity is merging all of Solvay's special chemical businesses that have a global approach to both the production and the markets: a wide and diversified product portfolio serving highly specialized customers worldwide.
As a first step, the management of the GBU met in Frankfurt last month for a team-building session. During two days, about 20 key managers of the new entity exchanged their knowledge and experiences within the different activities and outlined the vision of the GBU. Thus, they agreed that Special Chemicals wants to:
  • Be the global leader in selected market segments for Special Chemicals
  • Be the provider of choice for the distinctive quality, competitiveness and reliability of our products, services and solutions.
  • Be a preferred research and development partner for our customers and the scientific community.
  • Be an agile and entrepreneurial organization focused on growth,
  • Be an employer of choice, attracting and developing talented and innovative people.

After this first kick-off, several other meetings have been organized in different locations and business divisions in order to share the new vision and the new spirit of the GBU. With five business divisions and five market platforms, supported by different transversal functions, the integration will be a truly challenging task, especially taking into account the cultural diversity coming from teams being located on all continents. However, this diversity is also a strength and an opportunity to improve the way of working through collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship!
