Water has always been a vital resource to human life and survival but the quality of water has become increasingly important in this modern age. The quality and purity of our water is subject to ever stricter monitoring and greater attention from public authorities and the community in general.

Hydrogen peroxide provides an effective means of purifying and detoxifying industrial and municipal effluents containing toxic pollutants such as cyanides, sulphides and reduced sulphur species, mercaptans, formaldehyde and many others. SOLVAY has developed processes in which the oxidation by means of hydrogen peroxide is catalysed in the most appropriate way for the pollutant to be eliminated.

SODASOLVAY^® can be used to purify and soften water, adjusting pH levels to make water less corrosive and thereby limiting pipe scaling. It reduces calcium or magnesium hardness and helps remove contaminants from water.  SODASOLVAY^® can also be used to neutralize acidity in order to adjust the pH in swimming pools.

Sodium bicarbonate is and essential product for the treatment of water and water pipes. It adjusts the pH of soft water and prevents corrosion in water pipes and metal contamination of the water.

Calcium chloride is used as a precipitant for fluorides, sulphates and phosphates in water purification.
